About two months ago I was in the University of Nottingham Bookstore and picked up a book Called Tricks of the Mind By Derren Brown (which I highly recommend).
I am interested in subjects relating to the mind and have somewhat of an interest in tricks so I decided to buy and read this book.
While reading I came across some memory tricks that Derren does.
Memory is often a skill that is completely overlooked. People use terms such as “I have a bad memory” to describe their memory, however MEMORY is more of a PROCESS than a thing. When you start understanding and using the process, your memory begins to significantly improve.
Derren employs “mnemonic” memory techniques to expand his capacity to memorize various things. I imagined it would be fun so I decided to try it out.
Playing around with a method called The Memory Palace, and a variety of other amusing techniques, I discovered that not only did they expand my memory for the purposes I had intended, but these techniques also continue to help me in many other ways.
The MEMORY TECHNIQUES that I will talk about deal greatly with visualization, creativity,
and organization.
They are extremely fun to play around with!
Not only can you remember simple, useful bits of information that would usually be forgotten (like a list from the grocery store or peoples names) but also you can train yourself to just remember your goals and what you enjoy in life.
MEMORY AS A TOOL FOR SETTING GOALS
Lets take our goals for example. Many of the most successful people in this world know exactly what their goals are so they focus on these vivid goals, and manifest them into their reality. A major part of their success is this FOCUS!
I can safely say from experience that I have set many goals in my life. Many of them I have reached, and others that I set were not reached due a lot to the fact that I FORGOT what I was even trying to do!!
Through these memory techniques I quickly formed a habit of running over my goals and giving them attention each day and it has been life changing for me.
Learning memory skills is valuable in numerous ways
1. Increased confidence in tasks concerning memory
2. New insights into your own creative abilities
3. Better performance in creative thinking tasks
4. More practical organization of information within your mind
5. Ability to learn faster and with a higher retention rate
The list goes on. There are so many reasons why memory skills are important. We use our memory consistently on a daily, even hourly basis. Improving upon this one area will show effects in many areas of your life.
I in a series of posts i will present you with a brief synopsis of how the PROCESS OF MEMORY works, and then further introduce you to valuable memory techniques that I am SURE you will enjoy and take great value from.
The first system I will talk about is the “Loci” system. From there we will build and get to a lot of other exciting and powerful techniques like my favorite; The Memory Palace! The loci system is the first building block to get there.
As I continue to use these systems I will be able to tell you more about specific practical uses for them from my own experience!
Believe me, this stuff is a lot of fun and can open many new doors for you as it has for me!!
We are currently constructing this site and our vast database of information we want to supply you with so visit back in a few days for more on these techniques.

Do not forget about randomness, in all things, including success. The house of fate is built of chance and necessity.
Thanks for the post, something to ponder on
